Management Contemporary Issue

Question: Discuss about theManagement Contemporary Issue. Answer: Introduction This study has tried to aim to the concept of management contemporary issues. In this connection, this study has highlighted the theories and thoughts of two selected articles. This study is also very important to discuss the issues, which is necessary to identify the reason of the failure of the business. As a result, the project management can ideally measure the shortcomings, for which the business has failed. In addition, project management can efficiently estimate the procedure, project objectives, skills and knowledge of a business in order to investigate the gap of the project. On the other hand, the maturity model is beneficial to find out the contemporary issues. Issue As per the Project Management for Development in Africa: Why projects are falling and what can be done about it? it can be stated that an international business can fall due to four basic traps such as technical trap, accountability for the result trap, capacity trap and the cultural trap. On the other hand, as per the Global Dimension of Robust Project Network Design article, it can be observed that in case of global project, a project or a business can fail due to increase of cost of the raw materials as well as reduce the quality of the products. In addition, Burke (2013) mentioned that the assessment of risk within a business can be associated with the working capacity. Moreover, as per the first article, it can be stated that poor performance of the projects can be discussed with the help of the performance of World Bank. In this connection, it can be observed that World Bank has invested approximately US$ 5 billion in 700 projects. The rate of the project failure was 50% in the country like Africa and this rate was higher than 40% in the poor sections of the nation. The reason of project failure can be identified due to the poor infrastructure. In the words of Evertson and Weinstein (2013), Africa is the toughest region for running a business or project within the world. On the other hand, as per the second article, it can be observed that in case of the globalisation of AEC industry, the risks may occur due to the different institutional norms and cross cultural communication issues. According to Heagney (2012), workers behavioural approach can make an impact to the productivity level of a project. This would in turn affect the pattern of the individuals decision. Importance of the Issue As per the first article, Kerzner (2013) criticised that the investment by World Bank in different projects in the country like Africa have failed. Due to poor infrastructure, it can be identified that the project has failed. In this respect, it can be found that the development of railroads and the ports were in under construction. In addition, there were poor mobile or technological connectivity. Therefore, it was unable to make communication with the project organisers. Therefore, based on the investigation, it can be analysed that in order to run a business, it is necessary to make a greater connection through railroads, which in turn is helpful to make the communication with the business smooth. Moreover, the raw materials can be brought to the business sites very easily. Meng (2012) added that greater mobile connectivity is helpful to communicate with the stakeholders. It can reflect to make a project successful. Therefore, due to the lack of greater infrastructure, the busines s of World Bank in Africa has failed. After the investigation, therefore, it can be concluded that this is an important issue, which is necessary to keep in the mind at the time of running of a business. On the other hand, as per the second article, it can be identified that due to the lack of the ideal workers behaviour towards the project, the organisational issues such as projects of AEC industry have failed. It is also an important issue. As per the statement of Walker (2015), the consumers are also looking for the workers behaviour and the performance of the business in order to take the services of the business or the projects. With the help of the workers, the consumers can solve their problems. Gap Between the Academic Literature, Theories and Practice In order to discuss the gap between the literature and the practice, Burke (2013) opined that the problem or the shortcomings of project management can mitigate with the help of the maturity model. It is helpful to make a project successful and would lead to not to fail the project. In this connection, it can be mentioned that maturity model tried to highlight and provide an appropriate road map, which in turn reflect the outline of the project. As a result, the performance of the business can be effectively improved. Heagney (2012) puts that maturity model reflects the business to supervise and estimate the effectiveness of the process. As a result, the organisation can optimise and can quantitatively manage the changing environment as well as the external factors. In a synopsis, it can be stated that maturity model is helpful for the projects in order to provide the guidance to determine and evaluate the performance of the projects. On the other hand, maturity management identified the shortcomings or the gap, and tried to deliver the projects as per the prediction. Conclusion After analysing the overall study, it can be observed that the mentioned two articles have tried to focus to the management contemporary issues. In this connection, after the analysis, it can be identified that World Banks investment in the projects in Africa has failed due to the poor infrastructure. In this purpose, it can be concluded that to make project successful, it is necessary to make the connectivity smoother. On the other hand, the second article is helpful to identify the necessity of employees behaviour in order to make a project successful. As a result, this study has discussed the importance of the maturity model, which can mitigate the gap between the literature and practices, and can effectively make a project successful.
